Door hinge pin removal
The original hinge pin removal bolt
is not that strong and bends easily. I have replaced them with cap head
bolts with the nuts ground down so they will pull through the hinges with
the pin

I've always removed the wings for better access when removing doors. The biggest problem when using the tool is that holding the bar when hitting it looses much of the power of the strike as your arm moves. So i use an axle stand as a pivot point for the bar |
For
the lower pin place the stand near the hinge then hit downwards at the
end
For
the upper hinge place the stand at the far end of the tool
Then hit down near the hinge

That should result in both pins out of the hinges and the door easy to remove. Don't forget to remove the check strap pin first. |
